Here is everything we know about Stranger Things season 4.
Stranger Things Season 4 Release Date
No release date has been set, and it’s hard to say when Stranger Things season 4 could premiere. The first two seasons were October affairs with season 3 taking a bit more time and eventually premiering on July 4, 2019. A TV Line report on the number of Season 4 episodes also confirms that shooting was initially set to commence in January, likely wrapping in August, but this was before production was shut down due to the coronavirus. As of October 2020, production has begun on the season once again in Atlanta. One actor who will be upped to a regular role for the new season is Brett Gelman. His character, Murray Bauman, a journalist-turned-conspiracy theorist, played a major role in the last two seasons and will continue to do so in Stranger Things season 4. Netflix also treated fans to a behind-the-scenes table read as filming began in Atlanta. Watch it below… And as you might have guessed, there’s no way there will be a Stranger Things season without David Harbour! Based on the Stranger Things season 3 post-credits scene, and the first teaser (which you can view below) we know that Harbour will return with the rest of the cast as well. Harbour also confirmed as much in an interview with Total Film, comparing his character’s resurrection to Gandalf’s: “I’ve had those discussions [about Hopper’s resurrection] with them from the very first season. We were always interested in that idea of the Gandalf resurrection – Gandalf the Grey who fights the Balrog and then becomes Gandalf the White. It’s the idea of the resurrection of the character. And mythologically, Hopper, in a sense, had to change. I mean, you couldn’t go on the way he was going on. He has to resurrect in some way. So, it was a great opportunity to do that. So, we’ll see a very different guy going forwards. The same guy but in a different vein. It’s a very cool thing to be able to play.” Check out this ominous first teaser trailer below! We wrote more about what this footage means for Hopper and Stranger Things season 4 right here.
Stranger Things Season 4 Episodes
Stranger Things Season 4 will contain eight episodes. This number falls in line with Seasons 1 and 3, with 2 being the only deviation with nine episodes. The Stranger Things Writers Twitter account revealed the title of the first episode of Stranger Things season 4. According to the title page of the 401 script, the season 4 premiere will be titled “The Hellfire Club.” “Hellfire Club” was a name that could be applied to several exclusive and powerful clubs that populated British high society in the 1700s. It was kind of like a Revolutionary era version of the Illuminati…only real. The Hellfire Club has appeared in numerous fictional works, most notably lending its name to a villainous group in the Marvel X-Men comics. It remains to be seen what kind of connection The Hellfire Club will have with Stranger Things season 4 though it does seem to confirm that this season will have more of an international flair. Immediately following the release of Stranger Things season 3 back in July 2019, the Duffer Brothers spoke to EW about their plans for a potential season 4. Ross Duffer said: Matt added that season 4 would “open up a little bit” by “allowing portals into areas outside of Hawkins.” Sounds like Stranger Things season 4 could be a global affair.
